Pioneer games and activities throughout both days along with LIVE MUSIC.  So, bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the weekend.

The Railsplitting Festival began in 1970. It is a family festival celebrating the Pioneer Spirit of the time when Abraham Lincoln lived in Central Illinois. Come see hands on demonstrations of pioneer games and contests as well as: 

  • Log cutting competitions
  • Tomahawk throwing 
  • Corn shucking competitions 
  • Water boiling competitions
  • Flea market
  • Vendor show
  • Car show 
  • Food vendors
  • Music

  • Gingerbread House Contest- Local residents can participate in creating a Gingerbread House. The houses will be judged by the community and will stay on display from December 11th - December 18th at the Lincoln Art Institute.  For more information and/or to enter a house, see the following form:  Gingerbread House Entry Form

 

  • Small Business Saturday
    • Beginning Saturday, November 27th, come tour 27 of your favorite Downtown local businesses to launch your Christmas Season. You will receive a ticket to be stamped at each location. Turn in your ticket by December 18th for a chance to win over $500 in local gift cards.
      *You must visit at least 10 participating locations and make a purchase (no minimum required, where applicable). Your ticket can be turned in at any participating business.

  • Christmas Cruise- Come kick off the holidays this year with the “Christmas Cruise 2021”, a drive-thru only parade experience! The Christmas Cruise is Thursday, December 2nd, 2020, starting at 6:30 PM.
    This year’s theme will be “Christmas Movies”. The “parade” will remain stationary on the East side of Kickapoo St. while cruisers (spectators) will travel down Kickapoo St., turn left on Pekin St., then left onto Chicago St. The cruise will end with Santa greeting the cars outside the Depot/Visitor Center. You must stay in your vehicle for the duration of the Cruise. (see map below)
    The Cruisers (spectators) can begin lining up at 6:15 pm. To avoid traffic congestion down Wyatt Ave., we are requiring the Cruisers to enter from the back parking lot of the High School, via Pulaski/Miller Streets. Cars will be guided through the parking lot and released onto Wyatt a few at a time. They will then travel down Wyatt Ave and turn right onto Kickapoo to start the Cruise route (see map below).
